Wilts & Bath Advanced
Motorcyclists

A local bike group set up in 2005 to offer guidance and mentoring on motorcycling on behalf of IAM RoadSmart. We are an active, lively motorcycle club.

Who are WaBAM?

With over 280 members we are a diverse bunch of people with one shared passion - riding bikes.

All sorts of bikes – sports, customs, nakeds, scooters, trailies and tourers.  We cover the Bath, Swindon and Salisbury postcode areas and have 35 qualified Observers who deliver the training all year round.  So if you want to ride through the winter it’s not a problem, although we do draw the line at snow and ice!

Confidence

Have you ever thought or heard it said that modern bikes are too much to handle or that the performance of bikes and the demands on riders are increasing?

What if there was a friendly group of people who could show you techniques used by the police and other high performance riders that would ensure your riding skills match these demands. WaBAM and its members are just such people and with our one-to-one support we can help you make the most of the performance from your bike, create more enjoyment in riding and improve your confidence.

Free Taster Sessions

We offer free taster sessions where you can experience our mentoring approach and decide if you’d like to sign up. You can be sure of a warm welcome.

Social Calendar

We have an active social calendar that includes monthly group rides and social evenings where we organise speakers on a wide range of topics, not all bike related; partners and non-members are welcome to these evenings and it’s a good way to meet other riders.

There is always a friendly atmosphere and we work on the basis that there is always something new to learn – and we enjoy riding bikes!

Freewheelers

We also have close association with Freewheelers, the charitable organisation that operates the Bristol and South West Region Emergency Voluntary Service (commonly known as the ‘Blood Bikes’). All of their volunteer riders must be qualified to Advanced standard and many of these have been trained by us. You can learn more about Freewheelers here: www.freewheelers.org.uk
