I am extremely proud to announce that WaBAM received the IAM Group Achievement Award (Runner Up) at the 2010 IAM National Conference held on Saturday 17th July 2010.

The award is recognition of the way WaBAM conducts itself as a flagship group for the IAM, the test passes, the quality of communication with members and participation in regional and national events. There are 95 IAM Advanced motorcycle groups in the UK and to be identified as one of the top UK IAM groups is a really fantastic and significant achievement. It reflects the hard work and dedication of our members in promoting road safety and the very high standard of advanced motorcycle training we provide.

Since our formation on 16 April 2005, with 75 full members we have successfully trained over 150 associates with a test pass rate of 90%. We currently have 176 members, with 46 observers and 55 associates currently being trained.

In addition to this award WaBAM has received "Highly Commended" in the IAM Group Achievement Awards every year since our formation which is a significant achievement and, even moreso in 2008 Martyn Buckland (currently our chief observer but chairman at the time), was the first recipient of The Lord Strathcarron Award for Services to Motorcycling.

Well done to one all and we should be very proud of ourselves!!

Chairman receives award from Simon Best, IAM's Chief Executive.

This is the Group's finest hour to date. Brilliant - and, quite frankly, thoroughly deserved -  but I'm biased!

This is payback for all the time and effort everyone has put in. I'm so pleased Bill was there to pick it up, especially after the difficult few months he's had.

Onwards and upwards - there's still further to go and more to do!

This may sound a bit like an Oscars thank you speach, but there is no doubt that WaBAM has a very committed bunch of people who get on with doing their 'stuff' in a very business-like way.  This could be leading/attending ride-outs, helping out at BikeSafes and other promotional events or attending the many social events in support of the group.

Then of course there are the many observers and committee members who dedicate a significant amount of their spare time to keeping the show on the road, without whom we would simply not exist.

Everyone deserves a big pat on the back.   Grin

I certainly feel very proud to be a part of WaBAM  Grin

Dear All

The attached press release about this good news is being sent out to the world’s media this evening.

Look out for it in your local rag and on the TV (with a bit of luck) and relish in the glory if you see it.

Well done everyone....what a team.
