I have received the following from Jim McCarter, one of our local examiners. Anyone interested please follow the guidance given in the message.
Hi, The BMW Owners Club are short on numbers for their track day at Snetterton, Norfolk on Monday 16th August 2010. Its a reasonably well controlled track day, so hooligans tend not to partake and any serious misbehaviour is dealt with by a quiet word. One does not need to ride a BMW or be a member of the BMW Club. Its only £100 for the day. BMW will be there with demonstrators to try. Instructors will be available, although its not a training day like Hopp Rider Training at Cadwell. I have no connection with this event other than as a punter. Id be grateful if you could circulate this to anyone you think might be interested. Instructions are at the bottom of the first sheet. Thanks, Jim

Snetterton Track Training Day August 16th 2010 Application Form and Regulations continued All riders are required to attend the Riders Briefing regardless of their familiarity with the track or with track-day procedures. Failure to attend will result in denial of access to the track. The track-day is intended to offer riders an opportunity to improve their riding ability and knowledge of their motorcycle. It is not a competitive event and any rider or riders deemed to be racing, if continuing to do so after one warning, will be required to leave the event. The Club is not responsible for any damage to motorcycles; riders are responsible for arranging their own insurance to cover riding their motorcycles on the track. Mirrors must be removed or taped. It is the responsibility of the overtaking rider to ensure he overtakes a slower rider in a safe manner, leaving one bikes width. The rider being overtaken must remain on his chosen line. Motorcycles will not be scrutinised; it is the riders responsibility to ensure his machine is roadworthy and track worthy. However, if any machine or rider is deemed unfit for the track (ie machine not to MOT or ACU standards), that rider will forfeit his place and a refund will not be given. All riders must wear an ACU approved full-face crash helmet, one piece or two-piece fully zipped together leathers, good quality leather gloves and boots. It is recommended that riders wear back protectors. Sparking toe and knee sliders are not permitted. Riders must wear or attach to motorcycle the identification provided when signing in for the event. Any rider without it will not be permitted access to the track. When signing-in for the event, riders must sign an indemnity form, if not previously provided, and must produce a current driving licence (photo-copies are not acceptable). Neither video nor other cameras are permitted to be mounted on motorcycles unless prior permission of, and inspection by, the Chief Marshall has been obtained. Refuelling of motorcycles in the pit-lane is not permitted. Riders must comply with the pit lane speed limit, the one-way system on the circuit and any other pit lane rules published by the Circuit Staff. I understand and agree to abide by the above regulations: Signature: ................................................................................................. Indemnity: Snetterton August 16th 2010 I understand that the Promoter (The B.M.W. Motorcycle Club Limited), has not organised the track-day in the form of a commercial venture and its officers will be participants. Whilst involved in the general organisation of the day neither the promoter nor its officers will be scrutinising participants motorcycles or protective clothing nor giving formal training or instruction; the designated instructors will be present to provide only general advice and guidance. They will however assist the circuit owner in enforcing its rules and safety standards as requested on the day. I understand that motorcycle sport has inherent risks and I am voluntarily exposing myself to the risk of damage or loss or personal injury by participating in the track day. I acknowledge that racing is prohibited and that the purpose of the day is to improve my riding skills and knowledge of the characteristics of my motorcycle at speed whilst having due consideration for the safety of others using the track. I appreciate that insurance for my own motorcycle, third party and public liability (if any) probably will not cover me for my losses nor liabilities and that the promoter does not carry insurance in respect of any liability arising out of the track day. I am aware that I may obtain appropriate insurance from specialist brokers. I confirm that the payment I have made to the promoter for the day is a track access charge only and does not include any payment for any other service. I declare the following:- I am fit and healthy and that my eyesight (with lenses if worn) is adequate for track use. I do not suffer from any medical condition or disability which may make it unsafe for me to participate in a track day or safely operate a motorcycle. Any motorcycle for which I am responsible and/or which I will use on the track is in good condition and of suitable mechanical condition. I hold a current full motorcycle licence for the size and type of motorcycle being used on the track. This licence enables me to ride on the public roads in the UK or Europe. I will not participate in the track day whilst under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating drugs. I agree not to claim against the promoter, its officers, supporting individuals, companies and agents in respect of any loss or injury suffered by me during the track day and to indemnify them against their costs and losses arising out of any claim made against them or any of them by anyone to the extent that such costs and losses are attributable directly or indirectly to my participation in the track day. I have read and agree with the above declaration and indemnity and agree to its terms. Signed:
